THERAPEUTIC PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography as a tool for reflection, meaning-making, and self-understanding

Therapeutic photography uses the act of image-making and image-viewing to explore inner experience. It is not art therapy, and it is not clinical work. It is a guided, reflective practice that invites you to look at your own life through a different lens.

These sessions are facilitated by Doryn Wallach, MS Art Therapy, and are grounded in art therapy principles. They are not a substitute for psychotherapy or clinical mental health treatment.

HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER

01

INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS

I work one-on-one using photographs you bring, images you make between sessions, or both. Each session is built around a guiding question or theme, moving through reflection, captioning, and conversation at your own pace.

This is particularly suited to women navigating transitions, processing identity shifts, or looking for a structured way to explore what they're carrying.

Sessions are held virtually. Frequency and duration are shaped around your needs. Inquiry required to begin.

02

GROUP SESSIONS & WORKSHOPS

Facilitated group experiences using photography prompts and shared reflection. Groups are organized in advance and can be shaped around a specific theme, population, or organizational context.

Available for women's health organizations, corporate wellbeing programs, retreats, nonprofits, and community groups. Per diem facilitation is available for organizations that want to bring this work in-house.

Groups typically run 4 to 8 participants. All formats are designed collaboratively. Reach out to start the conversation.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF
  • You're in a period of life transition and want a way to process it that isn't only talk-based.

  • You're a women, at any age and any stage of life.

  • You've always used your camera/phone as a way to make sense of things.

  • You want a reflective practice but journaling alone doesn't quite do it.

  • Your organization wants a meaningful wellbeing offering, not a generic one.

  • You're curious about your own inner life and want a structured way in.

  • You don't consider yourself a photographer. That's exactly the point.
